All teachers at APS are registered, qualified teachers as required by the Education Department. All of our Lead Classroom Teachers have over 5 years of teaching children with Autism and in the application of Applied Behavior Analysis. However experienced and talented they may, they would still require to undergo regular training so their knowledge and skills are most up-to-date and of the best of quality. |

| before job--intensive training | |||||
Intensive training is provided for all new staff before they work with children in a classroom. In the 240-hour training, they will learn about the application of Contemporary Behavioral Therapy/ Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in the form of didactic and practical hands on sessions. |
|||||
| on job—monthly training | |||||
All staff are still required to attend monthly trainings to further enhance their knowledge. Trainings, in formats of lectures, case studies, videos, evaluations, and role-play, are both didactic and practical. Staff are divided into small groups and are rotated from one assigned training topic to another throughout the year. For senior staff, they are enrolled in extra layers of training to ensure that their skills continue to advance. Dr Ronald Leaf, Dr Mitch Taubman and Dr John McEachin also visit our office quarterly to provide direct training for all our staff. |
|||||
| on job-weekly evaluation/ review | |||||
Our direct line staff receive over 400 hours of 1:1 supervised experience in their first year. Thereafter, staff continue to receive over 150 hours of supervision per year. Weekly supervisions allow us to closely monitor and evaluate the quality of service provided. Our staff are evaluated regularly by the senior staff. Evaluations are based on their quality and improvement of knowledge and skills, professionalism, leadership, etc. |
